Incredible experience for an inn buy-out. Our family had the absolute pleasure of doing a buyout of The Historic Wailuku Inn for our wedding weekend, and it could not have been more perfect. Although our wedding itself was held offsite, the inn became the heart of our entire celebration — a place where our families could connect, relax, and spend meaningful time together. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the beautiful interior design — curated, warm, and full of character. The bedrooms were spacious, clean, and incredibly well stocked with everything guests could need. The robes and snacks in each room were so thoughtful. The grounds are just as special. The gardens are lush and peaceful, and the outdoor furniture is so stylish. One of our favorite touches was the “Aloha Room,” which was so thoughtfully equipped with water, snacks, hot water, a microwave, and even sunscreen — details like this really set the inn apart. We were also fortunate to host a small dinner onsite, and the ambiance was truly stunning — intimate, elegant, and quintessentially Maui. Every single guest staying at the inn commented on how much they loved their room, which speaks volumes. Breakfast each morning was lovely, the staff was incredibly attentive and kind throughout our stay. What truly elevated the experience, however, was the level of service. The Historic Wailuku Inn staff went above and beyond in every way — accommodating our special requests, always being available, and communicating with us seamlessly throughout the entire process. The level of care and responsiveness was exceptional. Parking was easy and ample. This is truly a hidden gem on Maui. It was a great place to stay at for our 2 nights on Maui. It wasn’t too far from the airport. The room we got looked exactly like the photos and was clean and well supplied with towels, hangers, and had some shower essentials. We had some questions about parking since we got in late at night and the host was very responsive and helped us out quickly. The Historic Wailuku Inn is a beautiful property, located just outside central Wailuku. If you are looking for an authentic experience (read not touristy), spend a day or so in Wailuku. Our only minor complaint is that we wish the Inn offered a breakfast on-site.

We enjoyed our stay here at the Wailuku Inn during our few days visiting Maui. Very convenient to our daily activities as it is centrally located on Maui. Staff were always friendly and very accommodating to our need’s prior to and during our stay. Our Mamane Suite was well decorated and very comfortable. The living room, dining nook area and lanai in the main house used by all guests were nicely decorated reflecting its charm and coziness to eat and relax by all. Knowing there were other guests throughout the property, it was hardly noticed other than during breakfast or later in the day as we returned from our daily activities. The back and side yard areas looked like a green forest in its own with abundant green foliage and colorful flowers throughout. Parking was located in the front of the house which was like its own courtyard between the main house and another house on the property which I believe, has three additional suites compared to the main house with seven suites. Such a beautiful property to enjoy and experience!!!

While it may be challenging to properly experience true Hawai’i, The Historic Wailuku Inn gives you an idea of how Maui should be experienced. You get just the right amount of attention without being smothered, the bedroom and bathroom are luxuriously appointed despite the focus on reducing wastefulness and promoting sustainability. It is located in the heart of Wailuku town and is within close proximity to very cool local restaurants, coffee shops, Foodland, and Iao Valley. I’m tempted to gatekeep, but this property is too good not to share. I’d come back many times over.

This is my third stay at the Inn. As always, service is great and rooms are always clean. For this stay, I booked the Mele room and was a bit disappointed that the room did not have blackout curtains like the other rooms that I booked previously.

This place is a hidden gem. We stayed in two rooms, as we couldn’t find availability in the same room throughout the duration of the stay. They were both top notch. Very tastefully decorated, and clean. You walk through the hotel through this very beautiful garden, that takes you to your room. Icing on the cake, was the scrumptious breakfast everyday with changing menu. That made this stay truly memorable. When we are back in Maui, this is the place we will head straight to from the airport. And, goes without saying, the beautiful spirit of this place is solely from the people who run and manage it. The access code showed up ahead of time, so check-in was smooth as can be. The Hinano Suite was spotless, charming, and full of character that fits Maui’s historic magic just right. Negatives: Breakfast time from 8 to 9. In Hawaii there is nothing to do live with the rhythms of the sun, restaurants close at 9 if it goes well. If he had the opportunity to have breakfast at least from 7 a.m., the days could be lived earlier, also because people go to sleep at 2130 and cannot sleep 100 hours …. The inn is a lovely place to stay when you are visiting the Lao Valley. The principal building is about 100 years old and architecturally interesting, but the rooms are very updated with nice bathrooms and many extra touches like a coffee maker and quality toiletries. The website goes into detail about the location of each room. I wanted a ground floor room with patio so I chose the Lehua and it was very nice. Note that there is no office for check in. They will send you a code that gets you into your room. Be sure to read all the messages! The location is a bit off the normal tourist path, but that makes it interesting.

This is a very cute, historic place to stay in Wailuku. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. Walkable to some restaurants and bars. The room was updated and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious each morning! They even offered a dinner during a tsunami warning since all the restaurants nearby closed. I feel like you wouldn’t get that service at a bigger hotel. We booked a last-minute night to be closer to the airport for an early morning flight, and it ended up being a highlight of our trip. If you have a jet lag this might not be a problem, if you want to sleep in the morning, well the windows won’t block much noise. Unless you get a room somewhere on the back on the building? The location is ok. Not too far from city, easy to find and access. If you are driving. In general we liked it and would come back.

I absolutely loved my stay at the Historic Wailuku Inn and wish I stayed longer! I chose the Kahili suite and it was exactly as pictured, very spacious, nicely decorated, big bathroom with a great shower, very comfortable bed/ sheets/ towels, and extremely clean. I actually booked at night (around 8pm) for a same day arrival and was surprised at how fast they responded outside of their operating hours with detailed instructions for a seamless self check-in. I received my code immediately, parked in their on site parking lot, and enjoyed the beautiful lush gardens surrounded the property, and had a great sleep. I didn’t wake up in time for breakfast but appreciated that they left out a basket with a few snacks which was perfect for me. I visit Maui every year and will absolutely return to this beautiful property!
